Southern California MotoWerks was founded in 2016 by Chris Johns (CJ to his peers), a Master Certified BMW Motorcycle Tech with 12 years experience in the BMW motorcycle field. In his youth, Chris started riding motorcycles when he was 8 years old. His love for motorcycles and the sport that comes with it, has never diminished since that first day. Chris has built both road racing motorcycles and record breaking land speed motorcycles throughout his career. He has competed in events for the Southern California Trials Association, Southern California Flat Track Association and the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb. He started Southern California MotoWerks in hopes of helping fellow enthusiasts solve issues with their motorcycles that he has seen firsthand while working his trade as a service tech and can be solved without expensive repairs. We pride ourselves in creating solutions for problems that is often accepted as normal wear.
To help with this endeavor, Chris enlisted the assistance of a local tool and die shop that specializes in manufacturing and troubleshooting and whose owner is also a fellow enthusiast that has worked on and rode, drag bikes and land speed motorcycles himself. His approach to a task can be as simple as modifying what exists or as complex as redesigning completely. With the owner’s background of 36 years working in the medical, electronics and aeronautical industries, Southern California MotoWerks was able manufacture a mechanical tensioner to the quality standards and precision that are reserved for the high end industries. All of our products and their components are manufactured in the USA. |
