The K1200 Mechanical Tensioner. A must have for your BMW K1200 engine. This chain tensioner when installed and adjusted properly, will prevent chain rattle at start up that occurs when a hydraulic tensioner bleeds down every time you shut off the engine, as well as eliminating cam rattle caused by worn out chain tensioners. In addition, if a situation occurs that you have to bump start your bike, the potential for chain jump and serious motor expense is eliminated by having a constant tension at all times. Having a constant set tension improves the life of your chain by not being subjected to what is termed, “loose chain rattle” that develops from hydraulic chain tensioners and leads to expensive repairs.
